Most Southerners have probably forgotten the first words spoken by Joe Biden in 2019, when he declared he was running for president was "Charlottesville".
"Former Vice President Joe Biden declared his third run for the White House on Thursday, arguing in a video that the 2017 white supremacist violence in Charlottesville showed that the 2020 presidential election will be a battle for the soul of America.
While it was reported that Biden had considered making his announcement in the city itself, he ultimately declined to do so. Instead, “Charlottesville” is the first word he speaks in a video..."
Besides another opportunity to nail his future opponent Donald Trump to the cross for support the president never showed for the few white supremacist that day, Biden tied a few extremists to all Southern people. In so doing he added more fuel to a long-standing war, and 160 years of the north being morally superior in all way to the South.
It then came as no surprise that within days of the death of a man, at the hands of police in Wisconsin, that armies of anti-southern radicals, most of southern birth took to the streets at night in downtown Richmond and desecrated the monuments to the South's fallen heroes on Richmond's historical Monument Avenue. The hatred displayed was undeniable. More troubling though, and important to understand when organizing to secede, is that this hatred was cheered on by the Governor of Virginia and the Mayor of Richmond.
